Mission Statement

The goal of this blog is to profile independently build web applications. There are a ton of cool web apps being built by startups with millions in venture cash and a dozen cutting edge developers. These projects get a ton of virtual press from the TechCrunchs and Read/WriteWebs of the internet. But for the developer who drones away at Megacorp all day and then goes home to work on his/her pet project at night, it is hard to get noticed. Yet, as with many creative specialties, the true innovation isn't coming from the large companies, but rather from small teams slaving away on shoe string budgets, trying to put something together between work and family life.

In addition to profiling the developers and web app, I'm hoping to build a niche community of developers, designers, QA specialists, etc. Basically anyone who loves finding great stuff in the dark corners of the internet. The hope is that all of these people will lend a hand with their expertise and provide constructive criticism to help improve the web app. Working as a one person/small team with scant hours makes it hard to take a constructive look at a project. Often time the simplest bug or feature that could push the app to the next level is overlooked. If there is a strong community we can help each find these things and help each other out.
