Giving Away A Free Copy Of CakePHP Application Development

cakephp-application-development

This giveaway has ended. Here's the winner.

I'm not sure if this is going to be frowned upon, but I'm giving away my review copy of CakePHP Application Development (reviewed here). I figure I don't have much use for it, so maybe someone else will benefit.

Book is in A+++ condition, adult owned, read once. I'll pay shipping. All you have to do is leave a comment on this post - although it would be cool if you signed up for my RSS feed or followed me on twitter. On Feb 28th, 2009 Feb 16th, 2009 I'll run some fancy SQL and select one of the comments randomly.

If you already know Cake it probably isn't worth entering as the book is geared towards beginners. I know some of the core devs spend so much time coding the framework they probably couldn't code with the framework (you know who you are), but please refrain from entering.

Good luck!

I would love a copy of this! I a PHP programmer who has had very little experience with Frameworks and I've been wanting to get started with CakePHP for a while. A book like this would be perfect! :)

I'll pass on the book, but is there a draw for the bottle of Jameson ? A man needs a stiff drink once in a while ;-).
nate said on Feb 05, 2009
I'd like to join Joel in the running for the Jameson. Grazie.

I'd definitely love the copy of the book as I've been messing around with cake for a while, but I still haven't really figured everything else out yet.

I was actually thinking of buying this 2 days ago. I know CakePHP pretty well, but thought it would be a good idea to look at other peoples codes and examples.

Been working with CakePHP for a little bit, would love the book to top things off! Would be hilarious to give the bottle of wine alongside the book, and see what creativity can come of it.

I already have the PDF version, lost somewhere in one of my multiples backup cd's, but there's nothing best as paper ! Concrete is the best way to use it every day.

I'm no beginner to CakePHP, but I'm trying to convince other developers at work to check it out. It would be great to get them out of 'tag soup' and into the world of MVC, and I think this book would really help. Thanks!

I have been teaching standard PHP for a couple of years now and coding in it for five but I am a framework virgin! My students have been having more and more questions about CAKE. It would be nice if I could field a couple of them instead of always fielding them out.
I followed you on Twitter for extra cakey goodness.

I would like this book... been looking to get into a standard framework, all the FWOKs I've used so far have been custom built and homegrown.
Shiny!

what you are doing is great :P, and I would love to read this book :P
Joey said on Feb 07, 2009
Though I have been using PHP since 99 I still consider myself a newb because all of my projects have small personal pages and no professional experience (though I would love to do it professionally). I have never used a framework, just made my own for each project. I've been looking into frameworks a bit recently and wouldn't mind getting the book at all.
Michael Smith said on Feb 07, 2009

Oooo! I'll give it a good home, plus it looks a decent size to help PHP fight off the ColdFusion used where I work :P
